The changing face of Verm-town

As many of our loyal readers are previous Vermillion-ites, I thought you might like to see how Vermillion is changing. For those who haven't been here in a while, we now have a McDonald's AND a Wal-Mart, oh we're movin' on up! In addition to the projects below, Cherry Street (the road in) is being widened and two new mini-malls are going up. I have no idea what will be filling them, but of course rumors are galore, perhaps a new Halmark to replace Debs, maybe a Payless. I'm pretty sure Maurices, the women's clothing store, is going to try Vermillion again. The whole town, especially the campus, is changing.

The new CSC, I'm still not exactly sure why they tore down the old one, but progress is progress! Apparently, the U will be getting a new business school next.

On the day Joey's tonsils were removed, The Chinese Buffet burned down. Before being the home of greasy Chinese, it was a different Chinese place. Back when I was a youngster at the U it was Hardees. The land is now for sale if anyone is interested.

Several new apartment buildings have been built in the last year so some of the older, more rustic "apartment" houses have been torn down. Witness here the corner of National & Dakota, previous residence of one Thomas Nepstad.
