Fabulous Fourth!!!

When I think about the Fourth of July, certain things come to mind.

The Family

The Parade
The fireworks

The car?!?

My hometown, Inwood, IA, has a great Fourth celebration. Growing up it was second only to Christmas as my favorite holiday. We go back most years and hang with the family. There's a parade in the morning, games in the park all afternoon, and in the evening there is a demolition derby followed by fireworks. My brother Heath has been in the derby for the last five years or so. He has done well and has fun, but I think he is getting more into the decorating of the car than the actually derby! Yes, that is Homer and Bart Simpson on the car. He got 7th place in the derby, but won the best looking car award for the second year in a row. After the derby, we walked to Mom and Dad Ter Wee's house and watched the fireworks. For the first time in years, neither of the boys were scared of the noise so I actually got to enjoy the fireworks.
